♥Angels & Demons

:exclamation: This post contains spoilers. So read at your own risk!

I’d already started reading the book when I found out a month or two ago that Angels and Demons will be shown on big screen. I got pretty excited, so I made a last-ditch effort to finish reading the book as fast as I could and planned to see the movie on its first showing day. But since I was in Baguio (May 15) that time, I was not able to watch it.

Angels and Demons

For the past few weeks that I was reading the book, I couldn’t help but brag to my husband how interesting and intelligently-written the book was. At first he was skeptical, thinking that it might be just another anti-christ or anti-catholic kind of story like the controversial book-turned-into-movie The Davinci Code which is actually the sequel of Angels and Demons. So I told him, “No. This is different! This book is way better than The Davinci Code.” Then I started telling him about the plot — the Big Bang Theory versus the Moment of Creation stated in the bible (book of Genesis), how the deep rift began between Science and Religion, the antimatter technology (which is the most volatile substance ever known to man), how the ancient brotherhood called The Illuminati (“The Enlightened Ones”) resurfaced after 400 years to take their much awaited revenge against the Catholic Church for the murder of some underground scientists, how Robert Langdon (played by Tom Hanks) helped the Vatican solve the mystery behind the murder of each Cardinal at the four Altar of Science, and so much more! Whew! ;-) So after I answered all his questions about the book, I was able to convince him to watch the movie with me.

I purchased my own copy of the book yesterday for only P299. I’m reading it again!

To cut the long story short, we only got to see the movie last Wednesday after work. I couldn’t explain how excited I was. As in my heart was racing! I didn’t know what to expect. Although I learned from a forum that there were important parts in the book that were omitted in the movie to save time and probably to make it less controversial. Some important characters were removed and some were renamed. But I guess I was kinda hoping that they wouldn’t omit the parts that I love in the book. I am not a movie buff, but my husband is. There are things in the movie that disappointed me (well, a little!) because that’s not what happened in the book. I wish they did not omit the story behind the Pope, The Camerlengo (played by Ewan McGregor) and his mother because that would give emphasis as to why the Pope was murdered. That’s my favorite part in the book and they omitted it in the movie! :stubborn: On a positive note, there’s a scene in the movie that made me cry because it turned out to be a victory for one of the cardinals. That’s the only clue I can give you! LOL. I don’t wanna give too much spoilers!

Overall, I think the movie is A-W-E-S-O-M-E! But you’ll appreciate it more if you didn’t read the book because you have no expectations at all. So what are you waiting for? Watch Angels and Demons, or you’ll miss half of your life.

Just right. hehehe. But like the Da Vinci Code, it’s not something that would land on my-favorite-movies list. I’m one of the few who didn’t get to appreciate it.

Hehe. Actually, mas maganda yung book kesa sa movie. The book explains so much more and the conflict between Science and Religion is easier to understand. Para ka na ring nag-aral ng history, science and theology! :o k: Sa totoo lang ang dami kong natutunan. When I finished reading the book, I feel like I traveled every corner of The Vatican City.

wow, after reading your post, i also got enlightened (may ganun? haha) on what the book is really about. i thought it was just some baseless anti-christ whatever.

i agree that science and religion really does have a lot in common if we analyze it properly rather than bickering that religion or science is better. only an open-minded person would really get that. lol.

anyway, thanks for sharing, i ought to buy the book soon. :D anyway, do you accept link exchanges?

Hinintay ko film na ito pero ngayong nandito na, di ko pa napapanood dahil sa busy ng sked. I like the book, I hope the film will not disappoint me. Sometimes, if not most of the time, the details in the book are way far better than in the films.
