Crowning Glory

Growing up, I often hear people say that our hair is our crowning glory.

And it’s very true!

Since high school up to this very day (I am now a proud mom of two), I do everything I could to protect my hair from any kind of damage so I always make sure that my “crowning glory” gets all the pampering it deserves. But since I already have two kids, it is my personal choice not to regularly go to salons anymore because it’s costly. Now I prefer doing my “hair spa” treatments at home (except hair rebonding) with the help of my dear husband. I get the same results anyway.

I just noticed that with my two pregnancies, I was prone to hair fall. Now my hair has become thinner. I just couldn’t imagine myself going bald so I had to learn more hair loss products!

Tsk, Tsk…

I wish online printing is available for all my chat interactions with Globe. For weeks, I’ve been getting different information from the agents I spoke to about my Blackberry Internet Service post-paid line. One agent said I won’t be billed when receiving emails on my Blackberry phone as long as I don’t reply; another agent said I would. One agent said I get free 10-minute calls each time I call a Globe/TM subscriber; another agent said my free 10 minutes is consumable per month.

Too much misinformation. The above mentioned were just the recent ones I remember.

Nakakaloka!

Now I can’t wait to see my very first cellphone bill.

Stepping up!

Last Sunday, I did my first attempt at the 10K category.

I’ve always been a fan of Goldilock’s since childhood, so I thought joining the Goldilocks 45th Anniversary Run would be fun. I was a little nervous when my husband dropped me off at BGC on the day of the race. Who wouldn’t when you know you’re unprepared? To make things worse, I left my timing chip at home just when I was about to set foot at the venue. My hubby had to drive me back home at a flying speed, and luckily reached the venue just in the nick of time.

I felt like my whole day was ruined! It’s a good thing my mood changed as soon as the race started.

Lesson learned: be prepared the night before the race. I got all panicky looking for my sun visor as I was leaving the house. Hence, I totally forgot to bring what’s more important — my timing chip. Ugh!

Needless to say, I was happy to have finished my first 10K run. My PR was not impressive, but at least I had the HEART to finish the race without fainting! Haha! I just felt a little gloomy because it was the first race I joined without my husband (he had a teambuilding that day). It’s a good thing Kat and Red (my friends in the office) joined me! It’s their first 10K run too!

After the race, we all walked (with a limp) all the way to Mercato for our big breakfast!

Side notes: I wish our legs were like cars with a 5th wheel warranty.

Lead Your Heart…

I didn’t know that depression could lead to bad eating habits until I experienced it in college. I was underweight, heartbroken, and depressed. I had broken up with my first love because I knew it was the right thing to do. It was too early for a serious relationship.

Sa larangan ng pag-ibig, dapat hindi puro puso ang pinapairal — dapat UTAK din.

I don’t believe in the saying “Follow your heart.” Guess what, the bible tells us that the heart is the most deceiptful above all things (Jeremiah 17:9). It is desperately wicked. It is only concerned about how it feels. It doesn’t know the concept of what’s right or wrong. It doesn’t have eyes to see the distorted truth. Most of the time, it is selfish and only knows what feels good now. It doesn’t care about future consequences.

During my most heartbreaking days, I dealt with the pain in silence. The boy didn’t know how much I loved him. I prayed for God’s healing and restoration. Ten months later, I was back on my feet again — stronger, better, wiser.

Many years later, I looked back….and all I could remember was the boy’s name. Joey Albert was so right in her song when she said “I remember the boy, but I don’t remember the feeling anymore…” LOL.

Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight. Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the LORD and shun evil. – Proverbs 3:5-7

Undoubtedly, God’s plans is way beyond our understanding! Good things happen to those who patiently wait. Let God lead our hearts and we will never go wrong.

I thank God every single day for blessing me with a husband that I prayed for. I am so glad I waited.

Cables

I haven’t uploaded new pictures on Facebook until now.

For some weird reason, I misplaced our memory card reader and couldn’t find it anywhere in the house. I don’t like connecting our devices (cameras, cellphones, etc.) directly to the computer for one silly reason: we have all sorts of cables — from VGA to HDMI cables, to micro-B plug, to mini-B plug, to standard cell phone cables. Name it!

The last time I attempted to transfer files to my computer, it took me forever looking for the right USB cable for our DSLR camera. Haha! You can just imagine my agony while testing each and every cable I found inside our cabinet.

When I have free time, I’ll label all those cables. *fingers crossed*

The Royal Wedding

I missed the Royal Wedding a few days ago. I must’ve been the only one in the world who didn’t see the live telecast. I went home late from work and fell asleep before the wedding even started. Poor me.

Anyway, later that evening as I was getting ready for work, I was able to watch the highlights of the Royal Wedding in the news. Undeniably, the couple looked perfect together!

I just wonder why Prince William refused to wear a wedding ring. Seriously, what could possibly be the reason behind this? I know for a fact that men are generally not fond of jewelry. But to be perfectly blunt about it, I find it uhm…well, odd. I read somewhere that it’s his personal preference. Being a military pilot, some assume that it may have been a practical choice not to have one for safety reasons.

But I still don’t get it…

I know some people who serve in the military and they all wear a wedding ring. (Some even wear military rings.)

What I’ve read online were all assumptions. I guess, I wanna hear it straight from the horse’s mouth! Haha.

If I were the bride, it would probably be an issue to me if my groom refused to wear a ring. Haha! But then again, it’s just me. I admire Kate for being so respectful of her husband’s preference. More than anything else, what matters most is that they have mutual understanding over this matter.

So I guess we can leave it all at that.
