My Kids’ Closet

The kids’ built-in closet is almost done! Yay!

I can’t wait to organize their clothes, bags, and toys! Whew! We’re expecting the drawers and paint to be done today. It will probably take another day to complete the whole thing. I am pretty sure it’s worth the wait. :-)

Our next project will be kitchen cupboards! *clap, clap*

By the way, to those living in the U.S, check out this electric fireplace mantel package. I heard it’s cost-efficient.

I Love Taguig!

From the “Forward Taguig” slogan by the former Mayor, Freddie Tinga, you will now see this logo when you go around Taguig City.

Yes, it’s now “I Love Taguig.” Sounds very Kris Aquino-ish, right? Just kidding! :P

Modesty aside, I am quite amazed at how Taguig has turned into a popular city due to the remarkable development of Fort Bonifacio, also known as Bonifacio Global City (BGC). Today, this place is home to numerous international schools, skyscrapers, luxury residential condominiums, classy restaurants, and the like. As a matter of fact, many establishments and steel buildings are currently being constructed at the heart of the city, our city.

Above all, nothing beats the fact that BGC, Taguig is the center of all running events in Metro Manila! Woo-hoo!

Now with that being said, who wouldn’t love Taguig? I think the new slogan proves its worth. :-) Of course, I am saying it with a little bias. LOL.

Conserve Water, Save the Earth

A few weeks ago, my husband and I decided to implement the no-running-water policy at home in our effort to conserve water, save money, and at the same time — help Mother Earth.

We instructed our stay-out helper and the kids’ nanny to use a basin when washing the dishes and a glass when brushing their teeth to prevent the water from running continuously. This rule is not only applicable to our helpers, but to each and every one in our household. We had the leaking taps fixed and encouraged them to help us conserve energy the best way they can. :-)

It’s been a few weeks since we implemented this rule in our household and I am so glad that everyone has been very compliant with our no-running-water campaign. As a matter of fact, nobody uses the shower anymore when taking a bath. We only use a pail and a dipper.

Because every drop counts!
Now I can’t wait to see our next water bill. :-) For sure, there’s gonna be a significant impact. I guess this is good enough for now, since we can’t afford running our household using hydraulic power units.

Every Drop Counts

Finally had our leaking sink faucet fixed a few days ago. Good riddance!

Needless to say, our water bill skyrocketed last month. The culprit? Yes, the leaking faucet in our kitchen sink. With just a single teeny-weeny drop constantly dripping day and night, it had cost us a lot of money.

Lesson learned: Never take minor leaks for granted. Every drop counts!

Sometimes we really need to learn things the hard way, don’t we?

I wish we had double stainless steel sinks for a more elegant look though. Hehe.

Thankful

Having worked in a call center industry for several years, my husband and I are unable to sleep with the kids at night on weekdays. They only sleep with the nanny, together with my husband’s grandmother who’s been living with us for two years now. We are so thankful that she agreed to stay with us for good. Through her, we are able to keep an eye on how the nanny treats our kids, especially when we’re at work or out of town. She makes sure that the kids are well taken care of. She’s already 84 years old, but still pretty much strong. She also trains our helper how to cook, how to properly clean the house, how to prepare our meals, etc.

I don’t know what we’re gonna do without her.

Thank you, Lola Lourdes!

Her presence can be compared to having a high-end remote security gadget at home (or some sort of home automation systems) because she keeps an eye on everything around the house during our absence. Thank God for giving her a long life!

A Homey Living Room

As you can see, the tiles in our living room are obviously not pleasing to the eyes anymore. Some of the grouts in between are now cracked.

I noticed that these off-white tiles weren’t painstakingly laid out on the floor when we moved in to this home sweet home 6 years ago. The color was sort of faded too. But since it still looks okay back then, we didn’t bother changing the floor design anymore. I wish the previous owner had chosen something more trendy and colorful though. :-P

If we had the money for a living room makeover, I want it to look like this — homey and spacious!

Organized!

I spent the whole day organizing all the cabinets in the house, including my kids’ toy boxes. I was shocked to find out that we’ve been keeping things we no longer use and need.

I had to throw away small broken parts of Greggy’s toys to free up some space, and had to organize the drawer containing all his documents in school such as test papers, drawings, arts and crafts from kids church, cards, coloring books, etc. I didn’t want to throw them away because those are my little boy’s work since he started going to school two years ago.

I wish we had our own Velo binding machine at home, so I can easily compile important documents anytime I want. Temporarily, I compiled them using fasteners and labeled folders for the sake of being organized. :P

It was a long day!

To all the dads out there…

We already celebrated it yesterday. We watched Kungfu Panda and had lunch @ SM Megamall after work. My husband and I decided not to join our yearly company outing in Subic just to be with our son.

Walk in?

I haven’t heard about walk in tubs before. As a matter of fact, I had no idea there was such a thing.

My husband and I agreed that our next project for our home-sweet-home would be the renovation of our bathroom. I really want to have a bath tub installed. So I was surprised to find out about this walk in tub. It’s  guaranteed safe!

Anyway, we recently underwent a room expansion for the masters’ bedroom because it was too small for us. And since we had a big vacant lot next to our bedroom, we decided to expand it. Our living room is also more spacious now because we had the other small room destroyed. So now we have one small room for Greggy’s nanny (that is our old room) and one big room for the three of us.

PR3!

I am happy to announce that this blog has now PR3 (Page Rank)! Yipee! I have waited for four months for this blog to have a PR. I don’t know what took it so long. Thanks, Google! LOL.

Moving forward, if you’re looking for an lcd mount, please visit standsandmounts.com. We bought a new TV last month and since LCD screen TVs are way too expensive, we opted to buy a flat-screen TV instead. But we’ll definitely save for it so we can buy it in the future.
